the other person who left a comment said "I am not a drug user and therefore do not qualify for a lot of housing options." where the heck are those housing options for drug users trying to better there lives. I thankfully have a 1 bedroom little place I can barely afford that takes up like 90% of my ssdi benefits each month, im looking for assistance to lower that to a reasonable amount. But I have a friend who is a drug user who has been trying to get help to find a place to live and then to also get clean. she is on methadone now but its hard to stay off drugs when you are homeless and have no where to go at night. she works 7 days a week 8+ hours a day yet cant afford anything because housing prices are outrageous. Past rental history doesn't help either. But her and I have been trying to find rental assistance for either of us for years now. I luckily got ssdi now so i can barely afford the place im at now. im not allowed to have visitors otherwise id let her stay with me. She is a good person and I no joke look for housing assistance for the both of us (her a place to go, me assistance with rent) even though I look for hours a day, multiple days a week i cant find anything to help us. County employees are beyond rude and degrading when i ask what help options are available. For the lady who said she has 4 kids and no substance abuse problems, i don't know where she is looking but I find stuff she would qualify for all day everyday. Single mother who needs housing assistance is everywhere.

I am disabled, receiving SSI and suffer from chronic homelessness. My children are in the care of Stanislaus County CPS and I am trying to find housing in order to facilitate their return. I have an eviction from when I was at a domestic violence shelter and the abuser did not pay the rent. I am not a drug user and therefore do not qualify for a lot of housing options. My Social Worker has suggested that I reach out to you and would like for me to stay in Stanislaus County but I am willing to go anywhere I can be housed. She has stated that I will need at least a 1 bedroom but I have 4 children (2 boys, 2 girls) so a lot of places will not accept me in a 1 bedroom.I have been searching for housing for over a year to no avail and could really use some help. Thank you for your time.
